The Bell In Ticehurst Wedding Photographer

When I was asked along to photograph the gorgeous Lucy and Simon’s wedding at The Bell in Ticehurst, I was over the moon. I’d been desperate to capture a wedding there, and furthermore this was an extra special wedding.  My good friend and photographer Benjamin Toms asked me to help capture it, as it was his friend Lucy’s wedding.  Sadly Lucy’s lovely Dad had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, so it was going to be an incredibly emotional day.  It’s at weddings like this when the gravity of the stories we tell really hits home.  It’s such an honour to be able to tell love stories through a lens, and this was a day of many love stories all interwoven into one incredibly beautiful day.  Despite some clear bitter-sweet moments, the overwhelming feeling was that of genuine love and happiness. Personally what struck me along with the true beauty of the human spirit, was the real sense of everyone present really being ‘present’. It’s often all too easy nowadays to be caught up in the past, or the next moment and not truly living in the now – and it will remain one of my most favourite weddings to ever have been a part of for this very reason.

The Bell in Ticehurst is one of my most favourite venues to capture weddings.  It’s relaxed, quirky vibe is right up my street and totally suits my style of working.  Lucy’s choice of styling for her day complimented it perfectly – just check out her stunning gold sparkly Charlotte Wilden dress.  The cut of it! Especially the back detail…ooooh la la!  With Lucy being a wonderfully talented make up artist herself (Lucy Jayne Make Up Artist), she was always going to look beautiful too!  And the piece de resistance had to be her quite spectacular wedding hair created by the amazing Vicki Lord.  It was quite possibly the best wedding hair I’ve ever seen!  And not forgetting the boys, who scrubbed up nicely in their three piece suits too.

I purposefully waited a long time before posting this, as I wanted Lucy to have the time she needed to grieve and feel strong enough to read this. It was such a joy to hear that her and Simon became parents in the not too distant past, and I look forward to the day their daughter is old enough to look at these photos.  I hope that she will see the spirit of her roots right there in the eyes of her wonderful family, and her mum and dad’s friends.
