Wedding FAQ’s

Where are you based and do you travel for weddings?

I live in West Sussex, but will happily travel throughout the UK and beyond. I love to travel overseas too, so whether it’s an island off the UK or as far flung as Australia, get in touch and let’s have a chat.

What kind of equipment do you use?

I’m a Canon girl and use 2 5D mark 3s and a range of Canon prime lenses.

Is this your full time job?

Oh yes…I live, eat, sleep and breathe it! I consider myself super lucky to be able to call my passion my job.

How many weddings have you captured?

Around 200 in the past 7 years; from rustic farm weddings, DIY tipi weddings, outdoor beach side weddings, to elegant Country Houses and beautiful luxurious Hotels…from Lands End to John O’ Groats and beyond…in stunning Lake Como and breathtaking Umbria in Italy, as well as a gorgeous Chateaux in France. I consider myself very blessed indeed. I only take on a select number of commissions every year, as it’s important to me that you receive the best possible personable service I can give.

Do you spend hours taking couple portraits?

No way, never! It still amazes me that this actually still happens. I advise that you factor in approximately 30 minutes to create some beautiful portraits of just the two of you alone enjoying your wedded bliss.

Do you ever ‘say cheese’?

No. The only cheese I may talk about is that which is edible! I may ask some silly questions about you and how you got together, and generally be a bit silly, all in the quest to help you relax, just be ‘you’ and generate some genuine emotions.

Do you take group photos?

Absolutely, as I appreciate how infrequently families come together in such a way. I have a fantastic way of doing these, which keeps it relaxed, informal, fun and quick giving you maximum time to enjoy time with your family and friends! I do however recommend you keep them to a minimum. If you’re after lots though then I’m afraid I’m not the right photographer for you!

Are you insured?

Yes, indeed! Being a Professional Photographer, I have both Professional Indemnity and Professional Liability – so if you or any of your guests take a tumble over my bag following a few too many bubbles, then we’re all covered!

What happens if something happens to your equipment?

I always shoot with 2 cameras, and have numerous Professional series lenses in my bag, so there are multiple options should the worst happen.

What would happen if you fell sick?

Touch wood, this hasn’t happened to me, however, I’m human and therefore it could. Please be assured that should this situation ever arise, I have a large network of lovely, talented wedding photographer colleagues who could step in, and I would do everything in my power to help find a suitable replacement.

Can we buy albums?

Sure, and parent albums too. You may order an album at any time up to 1 year after your wedding day (your 1st year anniversary is marked with paper!). I have a few lovely options – all designed by me and hand made here in the UK or New Zealand. I will happily show them to you when we meet pre-booking.

When will we see our photographs?

Depending on the time of year, I endeavour to have your full gallery completed and available for you to view online in 6-8 weeks.

How many pictures will we get?

This really does vary from wedding to wedding, however, I tend to provide around 400 carefully selected and edited images; all high resolution and print-ready for you.

Do we get colour or B&W images?

This is a creative decision I make whilst editing. Some photographs suit colour more and others really look fabulous in B&W. Again it varies from wedding to wedding, but I’d say it’s roughly a mixture of 70% colour and 30% B&W.

Do you get emotional at weddings?

…hmmmm….well yes I have been known to sometimes shed a tear or two!

Can my friends and family buy pictures?

Yes, you will have an online gallery with a password to share with your friends and family – it’s all rather simple and before you know it you’ll be gracing the walls of many a friends home!

How do we book?

After a meeting over a cuppa and some cake, or through the wonders of Skype (if you live to far away or time is tight), and you decide you’d like me to capture your wedding, I will send you a contract and a £500 non-refundable deposit to secure the date. The final balance is due 60 days before the wedding.

Talk to me. Tell me about your story or event.

I look forward to hearing from you.
