Old Marylebone Town Hall & The Peasant Clerkenwell Wedding ~ Rachel & Andy: i do
Rachel and Andy met on an around the world adventure (clue’s in the cake pic!), and so I felt it was rather fitting that The Peasant Clerkenwell Wedding day turned into quite an adventure for them – every wedding day has it’s share of emotions and little curved balls, but due to the snow there was rather alot of hurdles to overcome…fear not though, they were troopers and got through it all with huge smiles on their gorgeous faces! They got married last weekend on what I think can safely be described as the worst snowfall London has seen in 2010….! Fearing not making it, I went up the day before and stayed over in a hotel (thank God I did or I’d have never made it!!!). As predicted the snow heavens opened at about 10am and a complete blizzard hit London…so, with woolly hat, huge scarf, gloves and walking boots on (yes unfortunately you did read that right…fashion aside, I had to dust off my traveling boots from 2007! hehe), I set off to capture their day……within 10 minutes I resembled a globe-trotting snowman! 🙂
As beautiful as the snow looked, it created travel chaos for the lovely Rachel and Andy and their family/friends! I think the worst part of the day had to be when Andy got the call from the Red Bus company to say that they were unable to make it into London….such a HUGE shame as it was an integral part of the London experience that they had wanted to give their family and friends…so the champagne party they had planned on bus was not to be! On top of that, Rachel’s pre-booked luxury cars were canceled at last minute….but fear not, I am a multi-tasking woman and I managed within 2 minutes (by some kinda miracle!) to hail a Mercedes People mover (it wasn’t a time to be fussy!), so all 6 of us piled in and happily we were on our way to Old Marylebone Town Hall…poor Rachel was a little frazzled, and the People-mover perhaps wasn’t quite what she had in mind whilst envisaging her perfect day, but she was very happy at least to be on her way! Their ceremony went smoothly, and afterward everyone set about hailing cabs to take them to the fabulous ‘The Peasant’ in Clerkenwell – where guests were treated to some well earned champagne and some super tasty canapes, whilst we got some time to shoot some lovely snowy portraits. It was a super day, packed with style (how gorgeous does Rachel look – amazing makeup, hair, dress, shrug, broach, shoes ~ Rachel Simpson’s (one of my favourites!), fun, emotion, love and lots of laughter – my kinda wedding!
Rachel & Andy ~ I know you haven’t been able to make it on honeymoon because of the continued snow and ice issues, so I’ve done a bumper sized blog especially for you both, in the hope that it brings a smile to your lovely faces! I wish you both a wonderful life together and send you big hugs and love xxx
